A wide variety of organisations and groups are interested in the reduction of crime. Each might be a potential provider or user of a service. Here we detail from a brainstorm who we think might be interested in reducing crime and why.

Communities

Community groups
Community initiatives and community groups have an interest in looking out for each other and making the places they live and work safer. There is has been a lot of interest in reducing crime through building social capital, eg connecting communities where neighbours no longer know each other. There may be some opportunities in developing a service to address this concern.

Communities of shared interest
There might be potential in investigating communities of shared interest, people who don't necessarily live together but may occasionally meet and typically communicate and organise remotely.

Neighbourhood watch
Widespread community groups specifically concerned with local crime reduction. See their Corporate brochure and this example of their activities from Butcombe, Congresbury, Redhill and Wrington Neighbourhood Watch Scheme

Youth Groups and sports clubs
Local organisations that have a responsibility to look after their members.

Family, friends and flatmates

Close cells of people, possibly living together who can look after each other.

Next of kin
The member of the household that waits up for others to come home.

Parents
Parents have a responsibility to make sure their child is safe, as well as making sure they learn about ways to ensure their own safety.

Public Services

Some public services have a direct responsibility to prevent crime whilst others, such as counseling deal with the after effects. Others benefit indirectly from crime reduction.

Police
Is there a way that they can inform the public more effectively. Is there an easier way for the public to report crime easier.

Crimestoppers
Crimestoppers is the only UK charity aimed at putting criminals behind bars. Is there an easier way for crime to be reported to them?

Tourist boards
Tourists are usually at risk of street crime and dangerous places do not make favourable destinations. Is there a way for tourist boards to make visitors safer?

Local councils
As tourist boards local councils have a responsibility to make their areas as safe as possible for residents and visitors.

Schools universities
Schools are already involved in tackling crime both inside and outside the school gates. Can mobile technologies to make a safer environment for kids.

Transport for London

We are working with all London boroughs, and other relevant organizations to make London's streets more amenable and attractive for walking, with less pollution, congestion and crime.

Private Organisations

Private stakeholders have an interest in keeping their customers and users safe.

Credit cards
Is there a connection to be made with tourism?

Taxis
Services like Ladycab already provide peace of mind for travelers concerned for their own safety. Would they be interested in expanding their safety service further?

Gated communities
Some gated communities already offer private security services within a certain area - could they offer a wider care service for their residents.

Alarm manufacturers
Could alarm manufacturers offer a more complete service that moves into prevention. Or would they be interested more sophisticated methods of detection?

Local supermarkets/store
Local supermarkets can provide the central hub of a community. They are trusted brands already offering life insurance services and similar. Would they be interested in providing for the safety of the local community?
